Three hospitalized in early morning Oakley crash after police chase

Three females were hospitalized after a crash in Oakley that came after a police pursuit on Interstate 71, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.

A trooper clocked a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe traveling 79 in a 55 mph zone on northbound I-71 in Norwood just before 2 a.m., officials said.

The driver refused to pull over and led the trooper on a chase that exited the highway and ended in a crash at Madison and Brotherton roads in Oakley, he said.

Three women were hospitalized: The driver, Shamara K. Burns, 23, Tonara M. Connelly, 20, and a juvenile. Connelly was treated and released from University of Cincinnati Medical Center by Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

A male fled on foot from the crash, the highway patrol reported. It is unclear if he has been found.

Charges are pending in the incident. The highway patrol is continuing its investigation.
